Many child porn collectors come into treatment denying any contact offenses, however, in one case, after a short time admitted to offending a young boy whose mother did not press charges, with the proviso that he “get help.” He didn’t “get help” in the community in the state where he was residing. After getting married, he and his wife moved to Anytown USA, where he continued to access child porn. Eventually, the Law caught up with him.

Since participating in sex offender treatment, he has admitted to a total of 7 boy child victims prior to his arrest by Law Enforcement and this was confirmed via polygraph which is a mandated part of the treatment provided
to defendants prior to conviction/sentencing.

“Collectors” can be more serious than we think at first glance. I have learned over the years that most of the offenders I’ve worked with (“collectors” and “hands-on” admitters) have many more victims than they
have been convicted for. After working in a group for a while, they often admit to all of it and feel a great load off their shoulders. Then we can work full speed ahead on the goal of “no more victims.”
